Chelsea to cancel out early Man City table move
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n the end, it was a good result for Man City in the early kick off against Hull.
Whilst City were long odds on to win the match, after just 10 minutes it wasn’t looking so straightforward when captain Vincent Kompany was sent off.
They have closed the gap to six points on leaders Chelsea but have two games in hand. At the moment it’s Man City who have the better goal difference. I wonder how important THAT will prove at the end of the season?
It’s fairly likely that Chelsea will not only win today – but also improve their own goal difference figures. After all, it’s usually a fixture that produces plenty of goals and sometimes a hell of a lot of them. Chelsea have beaten Villa 8-0 and 7-1 in recent seasons, although in fairness to Villa those wins came at Stamford Bridge.
HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Aug 2013 Premier Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa
May 2013 Premier Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea
Dec 2012 Premier Chelsea 8-0 Aston Villa
Mar 2012 Premier Aston Villa 2-4 Chelsea
Dec 2011 Premier Chelsea 1-3 Aston Villa
Jan 2011 Premier Chelsea 3-3 Aston Villa
Oct 2010 Premier Aston Villa 0-0 Chelsea
Apr 2010 FA Cup Aston Villa 0-3 Chelsea
Mar 2010 Premier Chelsea 7-1 Aston Villa
Oct 2009 Premier Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea
Chelsea are now unbeaten in their last 14 league matches, taking 36 points out of a possible 42 (W11, D3) and Mourinho’s claims that Man City are in a better position because of their three games in hand is frankly ludicrous.
Villa come into this on the back of a 4-1 victory over Norwich last weekend and might offer early resistance but Chelsea should prove too strong in the end.
DRAW / CHELSEA at around 3/1 with Star Sports is interesting on the HT/FT market but my main bet is Chelsea (-1) on the three way handicap at around 6/4.
