Davy’s Cheltenham dream day even started trending around the world on twitter. After The Storyteller won ‘Davy Russell’ was trending second in the UK and ninth in the entire WORLD !!!
Well done Davy from us all at Star Sports, now let’s hear your views on Friday’s racing. No pressure ……
CHELTENHAM FRIDAY
No resting on any laurels !! I have three booked rides on Gold Cup Day …
1:30 JCB Triumph Hurdle
Smaller field than usual and I think Mr Adjudicator and Appleās Shakira set the standard. Ā The filly has such good form around the track and whilst not beating horses of this level she can improve further and I just prefer her chances. Farclas is a nice horse but he just has a little bit of ground to find with Mr Adjudicator on Leopardstown form.
BEN DUNDEE (2:10 Randox Health County Handicap Hurdle)
A real minefield of a race. We think what he needs is a real fast run two miles which Iām sure weāll get here. Thereāre dangers everywhere you look but I thought last yearās Fred Winter winner Flying Tiger was one of the more likely sorts to go close.
DORTMUND PARK (2:50 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle)
Continues to pleasantly surprise us. He has kept on improving as the year has gone on although was a little disappointing when fourth in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown the last day on his first run since having a wind op. Again, itās another hugely competitive race but on my shortlist would be Chrisās Dream who loves the ground and won by an eased down 64 lengths the last day at Clonmel !
DAVY ON DORTMUND PARK
3:30 Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase
Sadly no ride for me this year but itās a big field and on the ground will turn out to be a massive test of stamina. Iām not sure the conditions will suit Might Bite as I think the ground has gone against him. Itās wide open, I wouldnāt dismiss Definitly Red whilst Our Duke and Native River have obvious big claims too.
DAVY ON THE GOLD CUP
4:10 St. James’s Place Foxhunter Challenge Cup Open Hunters’ Chase
Pass !!
4:50 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle
At a big price I like the look of Dream Berry. He ran a brilliant race at Punchestown when last seen and I can see him coming back after the break a nice fresh horse. Jonjo rarely leaves the Festival without a win, so hopefully this fella can run well for him. Gordonās (Elliott) Flawless Escape is a nice novice and his third at Leopardstown reads better now after Delta Workās win today. Delta Work was a short head behind Flawless Escape in fourth spot that day.
TOP GAMBLE (5:30 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase)
I ride this one for Kerry Lee and a fast run two miles should prove perfect. He will also like the ground. JPās Donāt Touch It looks a big danger to all.
Best of luck on the final day, thanks for all your support and kind messages.
