DAVY RUSSELL: Envoi Allen in action Sunday

Looking ahead at Sunday’s action in Punchestown and all eyes will obviously be on Envoi Allen as he bids to keep up his 100% record over fences. Here are my thoughts on him and the other Graded race on the card…

SUNDAY

PUNCHESTOWN

12.50pm (Sky Bet Killiney Novice Chase Grade 3)

After his flawless display in the Drinmore Novices the last day, this is the obvious next stepping stone for the brilliant Envoi Allen (pictured). That success made it a remarkable 10 from 10 under rules and he’s started favourite every time! He has been so impressive in his two starts over fences to date, and here’s hoping we will see more of the same. This does look a real test though and it will be tough giving Asterion Forlonge 11lbs on bad ground. In fact, I genuinely think this could be his toughest assignment yet. Willie’s (Mullins) horse may have fallen in Limerick the last day, but looked good here on his chasing debut before that.

1.20pm (Sky Bet Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle Grade 2)

Gordon (Elliott) runs Magic Tricks in this and it’s a big step up in class for Abacadabras’ brother. He was impressive in his maiden hurdle at Navan last month, but it’s a big leap into a Grade Two. Hopefully he can take the jump in his stride. Master McShee (pictured) deserves to be favourite after his great win in Leopardstown over Christmas, while Willie (Mullins) saddles three headed by Ganapathi.
