DAVY RUSSELL EXCLUSIVE: It’s time.
Well, here we go again. That’s it, I have officially decided to call it a day after my final ride at Aintree today on Pour Les Filles in the bumper. This is a magical place and having ridden a couple of Grade One winners over the last two days, the time is now right. Listen, I’ve retired once before so everything I wrote in my original statement stands true – I’m not going to bore you again with it.
The truth is I was done after Cheltenham and ready to stop. My wife Edelle was very upset with the way things finished off there and didn’t feel that was the way to end. In fact, Gordon was of the same opinion that I had to ride here at Aintree and go out on a high. Well, I’ve had a magical few days here and the time is definitely right to finish off on a high note after Irish Point’s win today in the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle.

It’s been one hell of a journey and I’d like to thank everyone at Star Sports for their support and loyalty. I still intend to bore you all with my videos in blogs – possibly even more.
Best of luck,
Davy
