It’s been a busy week at Galway and I have three rides over the next two days to look forward to. After riding the first winner at the meeting on Monday, there’s been a few near misses but as I always say at the these feature meetings they get more and more competitive each year.
STAR MAKER (5.10pm)
Unfortunately I had to pull him up at Bellewstown last time out as he just wasn’t on a going day and not much came to light subsequently. So basically we are looking for him to return to the same kind of form he was in previously when winning at Killarney. The going and trip are ideal but this looks a really tough opener to Friday’s card.
NED STARK (6.15pm)
One of several entries for Gordon (Elliott) and whilst he ran well for me when fourth at Kilbeggan last time out in the Midlands National I’m not convinced the course suited him that day and it will be interesting to see how he fares on his first spin around Galway. He’s also down a bit in trip today. He’s got plenty of weight and it’s very competitive but hopefully he can get himself involved.
A quality horse who has plenty of experience, including a Grade 3 win over fences at this meeting last year. He’s been mixing it on the flat and back over hurdles since and is also up in trip for this. This looks wide open though and it’s interesting to see Willie (Mullins) has Great White Shark entered up again after her win here on Monday.
