It was nice to get a few of the Saturday races right. Acapella Bourgeois landed back to back Bobbyjo Chases when beating stablemate Burrows Saint who remains firmly on the Aintree trail whilst Teahupoo took the step up in class in his stride and remains a nice prospect. It will interesting to see if he takes up a Cheltenham engagement or is saved for a later date.

Over in England Cape Gentleman landed the Dovecote for Emmet Mullins – he showed plenty of his flat speed and both he and Calico finished nicely clear.

Naas hosts Sunday’s action and a quick word on the two Graded races:

2.00 WhatOddsPaddy? Chase (Grade 3)

There’s no doubting the chance of Cilaos Emery who is already a class act but I just thought under his penalty he could be worth chancing with Daly Tiger in what looks a match.

Daly Tiger has popped pop to win two really competitive handicap chases this season relishing the testing ground and whilst he has struggled in Graded company before this looks his best chance yet.

3.00 Paddy Power Betting Shop Novice Hurdle (Grade 2)

Willie (Mullins) also holds a strong chance in the Graded hurdle on the card with Echoes In Rain who was a wide margin winner here December and not disgraced when fourth in the Moscow Flyer in Punchestown the last day.

I continue to be impressed though with both Streets Of Doyen (pictured below) and young jockey Simon Torrens.

Streets Of Doyen is on for a five-timer but the only concern is the more testing ground. The weather people here say there’s not likely to be any more rain so if it dries up a bit he’ll come right into it.
