EURO 2024 PREVIEW Sat: Hungary v Switzerland

In the second Group A clash of EURO 2024, Hungary take on Switzerland at the RheinEnergieStadion in what could turn out to be a crucial encounter, writes JOE CITRONE.

Hungary failed to win a single match – drawing two and losing one – at the last European Championship, but there is fresh optimism this time around that Marco Rossi’s side could cause a splash at this tournament.

As I outlined in both my outright preview and the Star Sports team-by-team guide, Hungary could be a side to look out for at EURO 2024 as I believe they have the quality to qualify from Group A and possibly bloody a few noses at this tournament.

Of course, Dominik Szoboszlai – who enjoyed a very solid debut season in the Premier League with Liverpool – will be a player that Switzerland will need to monitor closely, but Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez may also cause problems down that left side that the Swiss will need to be wary of.

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Both of these sides will see this as a game that, if they can pick up maximum points in, would significantly boost their chances of progressing to the knockout rounds, and Switzerland will be aiming to be the side that picks up that crucial result.

It wasn’t the smoothest of qualifying campaigns for Switzerland, but they made it in the end, and will now be hoping to at least match their achievements of the last European Championship where they dumped out France and reached the quarter-finals.

Of course, that won’t be easy, and they face a tough test in their opening match of the tournament against a strong-looking Hungary side.

As I’ve previously mentioned in this preview, I like the look of Hungary in this tournament and therefore back them to get off to a solid start at EURO 2024. At 12/5 with starsports.bet, I find a Hungary win appealing.
