HOPEWELL ROCK – 1:50pm Goodwood

Hopewell Rock ran with credit at Royal Ascot, but I don’t think he was quite himself on the day. He just looked a little bit quiet throughout the race.

He’s trained super since, has come out of Ascot in great shape and this has been the plan ever since he crossed the line there. It’s great to have a runner for Wathnan Racing at a big festival for them and he goes there in super shape.

TRYST – 3:23pm Newmarket

I thought Tryst was our best chance of the weekend.

She’s always worked like a filly who is well handicapped at home. We finally got her to the right trip last time when Billy rode her, and I’m hoping she can cope with the rise in the weights and take another step forward and win here.

ASUKA – 3:42pm Thirsk

Asuka heads to Thirsk for his handicap debut, with Jack Callan taking the ride just days after riding out his claim. We think Jack has a huge future ahead of him and is a big part of our team who rides Bow Echo in his every day work.

Asuka won at prohibitively short odds last time and now begins life in handicaps from a mark of 89. He’s a smart horse, we think seven furlongs will suit him well and he should go close.
