WATERFORD CASTLE – 5:20pm Goodwood

Waterford Castle has been a model of consistency without quite managing to get his head in front for us. Goodwood’s undulating mile and three furlongs, combined with first-time blinkers, could really bring out the best in him.

His work at home has always been above average and he just needs things to fall his way. It’s also a big day for his owners, who are local to the track, so it made plenty of sense to target this race.

LADY DORA MAE – 5:55pm Goodwood

Lady Dora Mae arrives here in great shape and has already shown she handles the track, having finished second in a Listed race over this course and distance.

She ran well last time but had probably been turned out a little quickly and, in hindsight, was ridden further back than ideal. She’s freshened up since and I think she heads into Friday with a very good chance.

KING GEORGE QATAR STAKES SELECTION

I think this fast downhill 5-furlongs could suit Spicy Marg. Some horses don’t perform at York and her 2nd in the Group 1 at Royal Ascot on her penultimate start reads well.

She has won over course and distance here before and think she is a good each-way bet in what looks a slightly weak renewal.
