GEORGE BOUGHEY: Weekend Preview

We have four runners on Friday before Divine Whisper steps up to Listed company at York on Saturday, writes GEORGE BOUGHEY.

FRIDAY

THIS MOMENT – 1.15 Newmarket

This Moment has been a revelation since dropping back to five furlongs and is probably training as well as he has all year.

A drop of rain would be preferable, but he is in great shape and I think he will handle the track. He looks ready for the step up in grade and should run a good race in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes.

BIDSTA – 4.05 Kempton

Bidsta is training well and still looked very green at Yarmouth last time, flicking her ears in front and learning on the job.

She looks a progressive filly and I think we have found a good opportunity for her despite the penalty. I would be pretty hopeful she can get the job done.

DELLA PACE – 4.45 Newmarket

Della Pace runs in the Group 3 for fillies and mares. She’s trained great since her last run. The ground was possibly too soft at the Curragh and I’m looking forward to seeing her on a sounder surface. Hopefully she’s able to outrun her odds in a deep race and pick up some black type.

NEWS – 5.45 Kempton

News was good on debut. It probably wasn’t the strongest race and she takes a step up here, so she will need to improve, but I’ve been delighted with her since.

Because she won a restricted race, she carries only a 5lb penalty rather than 7lb. She has trained well and I think she should be hard to beat.

SATURDAY

DIVINE WHISPER – 1.30 York

Divine Whisper steps up to Listed company in the Rockingham Stakes and has a good draw down low.

She is training great and has been working with This Moment at home, which gives us confidence to take the step up in grade. I think she will run well.

BEST CHANCES

Bidsta and News would be my two strongest chances across Friday and Saturday.
