GEORGE BOUGHEY: York Ebor Festival – Day Three

It was brilliant to win the Lowther with Libertango. Billy [Loughnane] is riding out of his skin at the moment and gave her the perfect ride, writes GEORGE BOUGHEY.

We have three runners on Friday, with Zighy heading to Newmarket before Lady Dora Mae and Sharpen both line up in the same fillies’ handicap at York.

Zighy – 3:10pm Newmarket

Zighy has been training super. She was due to run at Goodwood but just wasn’t quite right on the morning of the race, so we decided not to take any chances with her.

I couldn’t be much happier with her at the moment. She has been an incredibly consistent performer and has threatened for a while to take another step forward. This looks a lovely spot for her and I think we should get decent ground at Newmarket.

She goes there in great shape and I’d be hopeful of another really good account from her.

Lady Dora Mae – 5:20pm York

Lady Dora Mae is a remarkable filly really. She came back from France and has eaten everything since, and she has been fresh as paint at home.

Jack Callan rides her every day and couldn’t be much happier with her. We’ve been waiting for some slower ground for her for a while, so conditions at York should hopefully be in her favour.

She is drawn in a nice gate, stays the trip well and plenty looks in her favour. She arrives there in great shape and should run very well again.

Sharpen – 5:20pm York

Sharpen has been waiting for slower ground all year and her work has been good heading into this.

She didn’t show at all at Newmarket last time on rattling fast ground and, in hindsight, we probably should have been a little more patient with her. Tom Marquand looked after her once her chance had gone and that allowed her to come out of the race in good shape.

Jamie (Spencer) will have to find a spot for her from her draw, but she is a filly who has always worked like she is better than her current mark. Hopefully we can get her back on track with a good run before looking towards a slightly busier autumn campaign on slower ground.
