#GreyhoundDerby2020 Trainer Chat: Chris Waters for John Mullins

KENNEL VISIT: The John Mullins camp have a nice team of five dogs for this year’s Star Sports greyhound derby. In this week’s kennel feature, owner and kennel hand Chris Waters tells us why it’s an exciting time for them all with just a few weeks to go until the Derby starts and tells us who he thinks is the kennel’s best chance of a Derby winner.

Smallmead has already proven herself to be a talented bitch. A full sister to the very fast Ballymac Inspeed, she is currently loving life at Romford. Her strike rate is phenomenal and she ticks all the boxes. Can a bitch win a Derby? Chris tells us why he thinks she can.

Swift Lettuce was bought as a pup by Chris and has done him proud, winning opens at a whole host of tracks, after starting life in A3 company at Yarmouth. He is rarely out of the frame and could well be one to keep qualifying at a bigger price. Chris tells us why he thinks he can go far.

Notoutheway and Detroit are brothers that were bought by Chris as babies and reared at the John Mullins kennel. Both are progressive and look like they will get the Nottingham trip well.

Romeo Rumble is the most experienced of the John Mullins team having spent his career racing in top class company. Now the June 2017 dog has all eyes on the Star Sports Derby. He ran very well last year in the Eclipse at Nottingham and could well be a contender for the big prize.
