HARRY SKELTON: Cheltenham Friday
It’s always exciting to be back at Cheltenham, especially at this time of year. It’s a track we obviously love coming back to, and horses like Calico really seem to thrive there, so we’re looking forward to getting going, writes HARRY SKELTON.
CHELTENHAM
FRIDAY
ICE JET – 1:50pm Cheltenham
It wasn’t ideal last time when we travelled all the way up to Kelso and he didn’t start. It was a strange situation, as he’d never shown any signs of doing that before, so hopefully we can put that behind us and move on. He’s got a few pounds to find on the ratings here, but there’s some good prize money on offer and, if he can put in a clear round and run a solid race, hopefully he can pick up some of that. He’s had a good summer, so it would be nice to carry that form on into the new season and keep things ticking along.
LORIKO – 2:25pm Cheltenham
He’s had a good summer and goes into this in good form. Obviously, he’s got a lot of weight to carry, but we’re taking 10lb off with Dom Lewis claiming, which will be a big help. It’s Dom’s first ride as a conditional jockey, so he’s really looking forward to it, and hopefully they both enjoy the experience and put in a good performance.
COOLTOBECARELESS – 3:00pm Cheltenham
He won well last time out at Chepstow and comes into this in good form. It’s a competitive little race with plenty of runners, but he should enjoy the ground and will benefit from having that run under his belt. He’s going the right way, and I expect him to run very well. He ticks a lot of boxes for this race, so hopefully he can build on that Chepstow win and put in another strong performance.
CALICO – 3:35pm Cheltenham
Calico goes to Cheltenham looking to make it three wins in three years in this race. He’s been trained for this day and absolutely loves it around Cheltenham at this time of year. I think he’s in as good form as he can be. While he’s another year older, if he can continue to do things as well as he has done in the past, he should be bang there again. It’s also nice to see the top horse in the race running, as it keeps the weights down for the rest of us, so Calico goes into it with a nice weight on his back. Hopefully, he can make the most of that and put in another big performance.

SNIPE – 4:45pm Cheltenham
Snipe has been running well and will hopefully have fitness on his side coming into this. He’s got plenty of weight to carry, so it won’t be easy. If he can put in another solid performance and pick up some prize money, we’ll be delighted.
