HARRY SKELTON: Sandown Friday

There are a busy few days upcoming for us with plenty of runners at Sandown and Aintree. We head to both meetings with some good chances and will be hoping to come away with a few winners, writes HARRY SKELTON.

SANDOWN

FRIDAY

KALDOUN DES ROCS – 12:35pm Sandown

He ran once over hurdles in France, finishing second. He’s a nice, big horse and we have taken our time with him. He’s done everything nicely at home, but we’re starting out here in what looks like a pretty good race. He’s only three and still has a lot of growing to do. I think he will improve in time and is definitely one for further down the line rather than just Friday. Hopefully he can make a promising start.

NORTHERN AIR – 1:10pm Sandown

She’s dropping back in trip, which I think will be a positive. She travelled well around Carlisle on her return, when not quite getting home over two-and-a-half miles. We’ve been really happy with her since she ran, and she’s got a nice racing weight here. I think she’s got a big chance.

TOURMUND GIANTSBANE – 1:45pm Sandown

He lines up in the Grade 2 novices’ hurdle after winning nicely at Carlisle on his return to action. This horse keeps surprising us really and will have to again as he’s into a good race, so he’ll need to step up. We see him as a chaser really, but he’s going the right way and looks progressive, so hopefully he can run a good race. He’s in strong company here, but we’re hopeful that he can run very well.

DOYEN QUEST – 2:20pm Sandown

He’s in the Grade 2 novices’ chase. It was a great performance from him last time at Exeter when he made all the running. He’s got a penalty for that and it’s going to be a bit harder this time. Paul’s horse obviously now has a run under his belt and we’ve got to give him a bit of weight again. We’ve got experience on our side though, and we’ll make good use of that. He’s going to have to step up again but we’re hopeful he can run well.

HIDDEN HISTORY – 2:55pm Sandown

I was happy the way he won at Aintree, when seeing the race out well. He looks to have come on for that run and hopefully he can prove to be a progressive horse. This is another step up but there’s no reason to think that he can’t take that in his stride. He’s in good form and any more rain would be ideal for him. There is some rain forecast, so conditions should suit as he stays well.

LA BELLE ARGENTEE – 3:30pm Sandown

She’s got a light weight to carry in what looks a competitive race. I don’t think the penny has dropped with this horse and it could take a bit of time for everything to come together for her. She’s in good form and has had a nice little break after her last run, so hopefully she can run a promising race.
