HARRY SKELTON: Weekend Preview

I’m obviously on the sidelines this weekend after a ban I picked up at the Cheltenham Festival, but we’ve still got runners at Stratford and Uttoxeter and there should be a few with good prospects, writes HARRY SKELTON.

We’re hoping a couple will improve on the better ground, and it’ll be good to try and get a few back on track.

UTTOXETER

SATURDAY

SON OF TYRAN – 1:30pm Uttoxeter

Son Of Tyran needs to step up on what he’s shown so far. He had a bit of a winter break and ran okay at Wincanton last time. The handicapper has given him a chance and he’s now off a very low mark, so hopefully he can run a lot better. The better ground should help him as well.

NOTNOWLINDA – 2:35pm Uttoxeter

I thought she ran okay last time at Haydock and it was a step back in the right direction. Hopefully she won’t be too far away this time, especially as she looks well handicapped.

JASMIN DE COTTE – 3:45pm Uttoxeter

He was a lucky winner here last time. He was left in front that day and ended up finishing 34 lengths clear in what turned into a two-horse race. Even though he won, he’ll need to improve on what he showed there.

SUNRAY SHADOW – 4:20pm Uttoxeter

We’ve been a bit disappointed with Sunray Shadow, so we’re stepping him up to three miles for the first time. Hopefully that will help, because we know he’s capable of better than what he’s shown so far. With the step up in trip and the better ground, we’re hoping to see a much improved performance and a step forward.

STRATFORD

SATURDAY

BURNING EMBERS – 1:40pm Stratford

She was well beaten on her first start over hurdles at Kempton. She’ll need to show a bit more here, although she’s still quite inexperienced. Hopefully the penny will start to drop soon, and this run can be another step in the right direction.

DISCO DAVIS – 2:15pm Stratford

We run Disco Davis in the selling hurdle. He’s a few pounds behind on the ratings and, to be honest, he’s been a bit disappointing. I’m not entirely sure why, but this is a big drop in class for him. That said, based on what he’s shown recently, there wouldn’t be a huge amount of confidence behind him.

BEORMA – 3:17pm Stratford

She is still finding her feet after a long break following a minor injury. She’s already had her comeback run at Southwell, where she got a bit tired in the soft ground. Hopefully the better ground here will suit her, but the main priority is simply to get her back on track.
