How many TV screens are enough these days ?

Having one TV set is simply no longer socially acceptable to the sports betting punter.

Today being a prime example.

At Star Sports we reckon four is a pre-requisite.

Golf on BBC
Cricket on Sky
Tour De France on C4
Racing on ATR/RUK

Of course, if you are feeling really extravagant then two TV’s for the racing is the choice of the connoisseur.

Bonkers isn’t it? And chatting to Star Sports marketing supremo Luke Tarr this morning he reminded me that something called the football season is fast approaching.

We could easily get up to double figures on the TV’s at this point, and don’t forget BT Sport make their debut this season with Premier League action.

I’m keeping one eye on the golf today and am going to have a couple of bets tomorrow (watch this space). Quite happy to let the field sort itself out and take shorter prices on realistic winners rather than back players like Rory McIlroy pre-tournament who are now out with the washing.

I’m reasonably happy with the Aussie recommendation earlier in the week in the Ashes too.

Just having a small bet on Justineo tonight at Newmarket. The Roger Varian trained runner has a touch of class and should benefit from the drop to 5f.

Otherwise, a quiet day for me. I’m too bloody busy keeping up with watching it all.

A GENERATION SEEMINGLY NOT INSPIRED

An interesting anecdote from the Olympics legacy report published today.

The general public, asked if London 2012 had inspired them to take up a new sport or recreation activity, 88% said it had not.

Among existing participants there was also very little impact, with 80% of those asked saying the Olympics had not prompted them to do more sport.

So it doesn’t look as though the Olympics did inspire a generation as promised.

Same deal with tennis. Local courts packed out after Wimbledon for two weeks and then dormant.

There could still be light though at the end of the tunnel.

Perhaps it’s just too damn hot.
