India v England
Today’s main news regarding the forthcoming Test series is that Yuvraj Singh is on course for a possible Test comeback for India against England after being included in a 15-man squad that also contains Harbhajan Singh. Nick Compton hit a maiden 50 for England on the final day of the tour match against Mumbai A to boost his bid to become Alastair Cook’s opening partner which has seen him installed and supported in top Tests England batsman.
Prices range from 8/1 to well supported 6/1 with Paddy Power. My only feeling is he doesn’t have the experience on those pitches and has to be discarded especially as one can bet the same odds for Ian Bell.
Top batsman has to be between Kevin Pietersen and Jon Trott as the distraction of the captaincy will mean Alastair Cook is likely to come up short in that market. The 7/2 about Jon Trott has to be taken.
As mentioned in a previous blog top England bowler has to be Graham Swann and the 2/1 on offer looks too big as he will relish those turning tracks. Samit Patel’s useful knock with the bat last week might mean he gets into the 11 man Test line up and odds of 14/1 to be top England bowler look very interesting especially if he gets a run after a decent performance in the first test. There are no each way terms at the moment but if the firms were to go 1/5 1,2,3 then that has to be a bet.
As for outright prices on the series, it’s not really worth looking past India and odds of 8/13 will no doubt tempt many a punter. One thing’s for sure, it will be a cracking series. Top India batsman and bowler predictions next week. Bye for now.
