Mourinho sacked by Man U

Sensational breaking news this morning that Manchester United have sacked manager Jose Mourinho.

The club said he had left with immediate effect, adding they “would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future”.

A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club searches for a new full-time manager.

This comes on the back of the worse start to a league seasons since 1990-91 – the club are currently in sixth in the Premier League – 19 points off leaders Liverpool.

The early starsports.bet market installed Michael Carrick as favourite at 1/2. He has already been announced as interim manager for 48 hours and the criteria for next permanent manager is for 10 competitive games in charge.

The odds on Carrick quickly drifted though and he moved to 2/1 joint favourite with French legend Zinedine Zidane.

Among the outsiders England Manager Gareth Southgate was quoted at 33/1.
