MURRAY IN A HURRY
Murray supporters got a fright on Wednesday. Two sets to love down and the odds were suddenly level against Verdasco.
Murray fought back and eventually booked himself a place in today’s semi-final against Jerzy Janowicz – it’s the fifth year in a row that Murray has reached this stage at Wimbledon which is incredible consistency.
Whether he can go the full distance though is the million dollar question. He drifted on the Star Sports outright market for the title on the back of the win against Verdasco as, by his standards, the first two sets were not up to scratch and you can’t throw away loose sets at this stage of a Grand Slam.
Janowicz stands in Murray’s way. Literally at 6′ 8″ but there is the suspicion that the Polish player might just be overcome by the occasion today and not (yet) have the mental skills for a Grand Slam semi-final against a Murray who wants to put right the Sunday defeat last year.
Murray was our outright tip and so far so good. But, please, lets make this one a little easier on the heart today. Murray in three.

WORSHIPPING THE TOON
A student has discovered a 1,800-year-old stone head of a “possible Geordie god”, buried in an ancient rubbish dump.
The 20cm sandstone head, which dates from the 2nd or 3rd century AD, is thought to have been worshipped as a source of inspiration in war.
The find was made at Binchester Roman Fort, in County Durham, by first year archaeology student Alex Kirton as the team dug at an old bath house.
