No repeat of Celtic fairytale

Celtic v Barcelona

Champions League
7.45pm, ITV

NO MESSI-NG AROUND FOR BARCELONA

We got the win with Everton last night although it got a little scary towards the death as Newcastle rallied. In the end, it was only the Magpies dire performance in the first half that made the difference.

Champions League matchday 2 today and Celtic v Barcelona is live on ITV.

It was arguably one of the best days in Celtic’s long history when they beat the Spanish Champions 2-1 in November last year – and that was when Messi was in the side !!

Lionel Messi misses tonight’s game due to a thigh injury but with or without Messi Barcelona are showing no signs of weakness and have started their domestic season with seven straight victories and beat Ajax 4-0 in their opening Group H Champions League game.

Celtic played well themselves against Milan on matchday 1 before succumbing to two goals inside the last eight minutes.

They have had a relatively good record over the years against Barcelona so be careful if you are playing on the handicaps.

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD

Dec 1964 Fairs Cup Celtic 0-0 Barcelona
Nov 1964 Fairs Cup Barcelona 3-1 Celtic

If you fancy Barcelona to win as I do, then, like me you might be far more tempted by the evens BARCA/BARCA on the HT/FT market with Star Sports rather than the 2/5 for the straight win.

Sorry Celtic. No fairytale result this year.

STAR FORECAST
(stake between 0.5 and 10 points)
10 points win BARCELONA/BARCELONA HT/FT at around evens

LOL MAN U

With apologies to Man U fans. No, damn the apology, it’s not often we get the chance to poke fun at their expense. I liked this tweet – one of many doing the rounds after their, ahem, latest defeat:
