PRESS RELEASE: Badenoch leaps forward in Tory race after debate win over Jenrick
North West Essex MP now 2/7 to replace Sunak
Kemi Badenoch has taken another step closer to replacing Rishi Sunak as the leader of the Conservative party, according to Star Sports.
Badenoch impressed in last night’s TV debate against Robert Jenrick and is now 2/7 to win the Tory leadership race, her shortest price since Sunak announced his resignation.
Jenrick has lengthened to 5/2 having been 6/4 last week and appears to be running out of time to reverse his fortunes, before a winner is declared on Saturday 2nd November.
William Kedjanyi, Political Betting Analyst at Star Sports, said: “Kemi Badenoch was the clear winner of last night’s TV debate, receiving overwhelming support from the show of hands in the audience of Conservative party members at the end of the GB News broadcast.
“We have moved Badenoch from 2/5 into 2/7 – her shortest price since the contest kicked off – and her course to replace Rishi Sunak as the leader of the Tory party appears to be clear, with Robert Jenrick fading to 5/2.
“Badenoch moved into favouritism following James Cleverly’s shock exit from the race last week, and her calm and composed performance yesterday evening has eased her closer to coming out on top when the next Conservative leader is announced on 2nd November.”
