Star Sports make the Democrats the new favourites to win the US Election in 2028.

The Democrats have shortened into an odds-on 4/5 from even-money, whilst the Republicans are priced at 11/10 to land the election in 2028.

William Kedjanyi, Political Betting Analyst at Star Sports, said:

“The Democrats currently have a polling advantage in generic congressional voting, and with Donald Trump and the Republicans facing plenty of obstacles and controversies recently, they’ve taken over as favourites in the betting at 4/5 to win the US Presidential Election in 2028.”

“Earlier this month there have been cases of Democratic candidates outperforming suggested polls, such as Abigail Spanberger in Virginia and Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey, which suggests the Democrats are continuing to build momentum. The likely absence of Trump in 2028 – he has hinted at a potential run but is currently barred by the constitution, would need GOP control of 10 more states and would be the oldest president ever if he was re-elected – gives them a crucial boost given how Trump has outpolled his party in the past.”

“California Governor Gavin Newsom in particular and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have been notably aggressive in their pushback against Trump and the GOP already whilst there are plenty of options for the party to choose from in 2028, including Governor Josh Shapiro and Wes Moore alongside former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. In early polling it’s notable that all of the above are polling competitively against Vice President JD Vance.”
