PRESS RELEASE: Jenrick new odds-on favourite for Tory leadership
Robert Jenrick is now the odds-on favourite to be the next permanent leader of the Conservative party, according to Star Sports, lengthening the gap in the market to main competitor Kemi Badenoch.
Following last weekβs second round of the Tory leader vote where Jenrick picked up 33 votes β five more than in round one β his odds to take over from Sunak as Tory leader have shortened into 8/11 from 11/10.
Kemi Badenoch has drifted out to 9/4 from 6/4 despite being up six votes from the prior vote, coming second to Jenrick on 28 votes. James Cleverly and Tom Tugendhat both picked up 21 votes and have odds of 6/1 and 12/1 respectively.
William Kedjanyi, Political Betting Analyst at Star Sports, said: βKemi Badenoch, who was breathing down the neck of Jenrick at 6/4 last week, has now drifted out to 9/4. Shadow Home Secretary, James Cleverly, has also shifted in the market into 6/1 from 15/2, with Tom Tugendhat staying steady at 12/1.β
