PRESS RELEASE: Josh Shapiro heavily backed for Democrat Vice President
Shapiro 3/10 to be named Harris’ VP nominee from 15/8 when market opened
There has been a major move in the Democrat VP nominee market within the last 48 hours, with Star Sports reporting plenty of support for Josh Shapiro who is now the heavy odds-on favourite.
When the market opened, Governor of Pennsylvania Shapiro was 15/8 to be Kamala Harris’ running mate and he has since seen his odds slashed all the way into his current price of 3/10 (from 8/13 yesterday) in the race for vice-presidency.
Andy Beshear is second in the market all the way out at 7/1, with Mark Kelly and Tim Walz within reaching distance of him at 11/1 and 12/1 respectively.
William Kedjanyi, Political Betting Analyst at Star Sports, said: “Within the last 48 hours we’ve seen support flood in for Governor of Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro in the race for the Democrat vice-presidency.
“Pennsylvania will be a key swing state for Kamala Harris in November’s US Presidential election and Democrat supporters are looking to be favouring Shapiro, who’s shortened dramatically into 3/10 from 8/13 yesterday – a 15/8-shot when the market opened.
“The rest of the candidates don’t look to be doing any damage in the betting, with Andy Beshear in second at 7/1, whilst Mark Kelly and Tim Walz are drifting out of contention to join Harris on the ticket at 11/1 and 12/1 respectively.”
