“Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson was the odds-on favourite, having secured 175 nominations from Labour MPs when voting closed on Thursday, but despite Lucy Powell securing fewer nominations with 117, she appears to have plenty of support from the soft-left of the party that has given her the momentum, having replaced Phillipson as favourite in our market after shortening into 4/6 from 9/4.”
