PREVIEW: Cardiff to send Coventry to, er, Coventry
[dropcap]N[/dropcap]ot long now to wait before the kick off of the new Premier League season on Saturday with the 12.45pm kick off between Man U and Swansea but first the delights of ……
Coventry City v Cardiff City
Capital One Cup 1st Round
7.45, LIVE ON SKY SPORTS 1
If last night’s games were anything to go by, expect goals and plenty of them. Dagenham 6 Brentford 6 (after extra time) was one of the more juicy games last night. The only other League Cup tie to have produced so many goals was Reading 5-7 Arsenal in 2012.

(Max 10 matches)
Mar 2012 Championship Cardiff 2-2 Coventry
Nov 2011 Championship Coventry 1-1 Cardiff
Dec 2010 Championship Cardiff 2-0 Coventry
Oct 2010 Championship Coventry 1-2 Cardiff
Mar 2010 Championship Coventry 1-2 Cardiff
Oct 2009 Championship Cardiff 2-0 Coventry
Jan 2009 Championship Coventry 0-2 Cardiff
Sep 2008 Championship Cardiff 2-1 Coventry
Feb 2008 Championship Coventry 0-0 Cardiff
Aug 2007 Championship Cardiff 0-1 Coventry
On paper this looks pretty one sided in favour of Cardiff. They began life in the Championship with a 1-1 draw against Blackburn in the first match of the new season and face a League One Coventry side who have failed to win any of their last eight games. Their new season started with a 3-2 defeat to Bradford.
Cardiff very much have the edge in the head to head records too, although the last two times they have met it’s resulted in a draw.
Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to make several changes, including a start for striker Javi Guerra.
Kevin Theophile-Catherine, Magnus Eikrem, Kim Bo-Kyung and Guido Burgstaller could also all start.
Biggest change for Coventry could see Lee Burge in goal.
It’s always refreshing to see a team odds against that you think should be odds on so I am stepping in to take 11/10 with Star Sports on a Cardiff win.
FOOT NOTE
By the way, the P&L below has been updated with the USPGA loss of 8 points. Although I had one hell of a ride with the 25/1 about Phil Mickelson and got my money back on injured Matt Kuchar.
