PREVIEW: Chelsea v Maribor

Champions League action is back on Tuesday evening and Chelsea are unlikely to find it as hard as Man City did earlier when only drawing away to CSKA Moscow.

Chelsea are long odds-on to see off Slovenian champions NK Maribor in what looks a mis-match and Jose Mourinho could be forgiven for keeping one eye on the Premier League visit to Manchester United on Sunday but he is adamant that this is not the case.

Mourinho said: “I don’t have Manchester United in mind, I have Maribor in mind. I don’t rest players. We must play with what we have, with the best we have.”

That pool of players doesn’t include Diego Costa who is still suffering with his hamstring injury.

As well as their superb start to the Premier League, Chelsea also lead Group G in the Champions League.

Maribor are likely to start with a 4-5-1 formation as their focus is very much on defence. They have drawn four of their last five Champions League ties and might not be the pushover that the market is suggesting. It’s seldom you see runaway wins in any Champions League game – no matter how one-sided it looks on paper.
