PREVIEW: Everton v West Ham

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]hings are getting pretty desperate for Everton – so much show that a defeat and exit from the FA Cup at Goodison Park tonight could spell the end of the road for Roberto Martinez.

The Toffees have now lost six of their last seven matches and fans will want to see a reaction tonight against a side they generally perform well against.

Martinez said: “As a club we have all been disappointed by the results We now have three games at home and it is really important we support each other.

“We need to get that positive result which would trigger our season and a bit of momentum, which I don’t think we have had.

“It is time to help each other, help the players enjoy their football and we will get the reward from it because the talent and quality is there.

“We are here to win games and build something for the future, not just for now, it is to build for the future and become a winning team.”

Tonight’s rivals West Ham have had a great run in the Premier League but found life a little harder over the Festive period when they had a tough set of matches that included defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea.

The New Year didn’t start a lot better for West Ham who were held 1-1 at home against WBA.

With due respect to Doncaster and Bristol City (who still need to resolve their third round game) both Everton and West Ham will see their next rivals as a fairly safe passage through to the fifth round.
