PREVIEW: Liverpool v Arsenal

[dropcap]G[/dropcap]ot there (in the end) yesterday with a nice 9/4 bet landed thanks to Man City defying a two goal handicap start.

The column is now 51.88 points up since the start of the World Cup, which seems a long time ago now.

Liverpool v Arsenal is always a cracking game but it’s hard to think we are going to get a repeat of the 5-1 scoreline (it was all over almost before it all started) from last season from ‘new’ Liverpool.

Indeed, Arsenal will very much fancy getting something out of this, given they arrive on the back of two 4-1 wins. Against Newcastle in the Premier League and Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Arsenal are also doing better, so far this season and are five points in front of Liverpool from 16 matches.

I didn’t share Brendan Rodgers appraisal of his teams performance midweek when beating Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup.

Rodgers was eulogising after the match but for me it was much more a case of Bournemouth simply not getting the rub of the green and missing an absolute sitter early on which could have changed the whole complex of the match.

It was only Liverpool’s third win in their last 11 games in all competitions so it’s premature to talk of tides being turned.

It’s a tough call – but safest bet is probably the draw at around 5/2 with Star Sports.

RECOMMENDED BETS (scale of 1-50 points)
