PREVIEW: Liverpool v Everton
[dropcap]N[/dropcap]ot been the greatest of weeks on the tipping front but a winner yesterday!
My recommended bet on Star Sports at the start of the Ryder Cup was ROSE & STENSON to beat WATSON & SIMPSON at evens which (for once) was landed with the minimum of fuss.
It’s a tactical retreat today and back to the football for the small matter of then Merseyside derby at Anfield (12.45pm).
Everton won’t mind the timing of this given Liverpool’s faltering start to the new campaign – and although the marathon penalty shootout against Middlesbrough was memorable – don’t forget it was a match that Liverpool were odds-on to win against their Championship opposition.
Liverpool also made mighty hard work of landing even shorter odds when beating Ludogorets in the Champions League and have tasted defeat in the Premier League so far this season at the hands of Villa, Man City and West Ham.
Sturridge and Suarez seem badly missed from the side that went within a whisker of winning the title last season. Sturridge should be back soon but unlikely to be ready for the high noon kick off today.

As for a bet, I am looking at the draw which is a result that will suit neither team given their positions in the bottom half of the table.
Eight of the last 15 derbies have finished as a stalemate with Liverpool winning all the other games.
As tempting as a bet on Everton might be at the prices it’s worth remembering that this match takes place 15 years to the day since Everton’s last win at Anfield on 27 September 1999.
