PREVIEW: South Korea v Belgium
My nice run of form came to a shuddering halt yesterday when I went UNDER 2.5 goals in the France game and got the killer result 0-0.
The good news is we are still 19 points ahead of the game since the World Cup started.
Group H action in the late games as another group comes to an end.
South Korea v Belgium is the game on ITV from the Arena de Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo.
Belgium were many peoples idea of a lively outsider before the tournament began but despite topping the group with two wins from two have hardly set the world alight.
Their winning goals have come late in the game, all from substitutes and with their passage through to the knock out stages secure I can hardly see them busting a gut here.
They have met South Korea three times before (2 win and 1 draw):
HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Jun 1999 International South Korea 1-2 Belgium
Jun 1998 World Cup Belgium 1-1 South Korea
Jun 1990 World Cup Belgium 2-0 South Korea
South Korea need to go all out for the win to stand any chance of getting past this stage and even then they must rely on Russia beating Algeria, by a smaller winning margin!
Their biggest problem is their defence, or rather lack of it. Manager Hong Myung-Bo was openly critical following the 4-2 defeat to Algeria
We’ll try goals again. On the basis that South Korea will need to push forward to such an extent they may present some gift wrapped goals for Belgium.
