PSG v Barcelona
STAR EVENT: PSG v Barcelona
COMPETITION: Champions League (Quarter Final First Leg)

I felt a prize fool yesterday. An April fool.
But then it’s easy to blame the stats. They SAID there would be goals between Chelsea and Man U.
What the heck are stats anyway. “Lies, damned lies, and statistics” is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. It is also sometimes colloquially used to doubt statistics used to prove an opponent’s point.
The term was popularised in the United States by Mark Twain (among others), who attributed it to the 19th-century British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (1804โ1881): “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”
The stats don’t help us much (you’ll be pleased to hear) in tonight’s Champions League Quarter Final, first leg,ย between Paris St Germain and Barcelona.
The giants of French and Spanish football have only clashed three times (all in the last decade) resulting in a win for PSG, a win for Barcelona and – yes you’ve guessed it – a draw.
Carlo Ancelotti’s PSG are nicely clear in their domestic league and are unbeaten in European home games since 2006. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is clearly a formidable weapon for them and he is likely to be paired up front with Levezzi.
The ‘Bank Of Barcelona’ sometimes comes unstuck on the road in European events and tonight PSG will look for a point at the very least to take to the Camp Nou.
I’m not tempted by buying money on Barcelona and will risk a 3 point bet on the DRAW with Star Sports and a point on PSG to at least make Barcelona think ahead of the second leg.
