Real Madrid v Bayern Munich

Hopefully, tonight’s Champions League semi-final will be a little more entertaining than last night’s rather dull 0-0 draw between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea.

It was a result which, if anything, favoured Atletico Madrid with the away goals rule in the Champions League. Atletico are marginal favourites with Star Sports to qualify.

The winners will play either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the final and that pair battle it out at the in their first leg semi tonight at the Bernabeu.

The two European giants have had plenty of Champions League encounters over the years:

Real Madrid come here on the back of a win over arch rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final and have been a goal machine in the Champions League so far this seasons scoring 32 times.

Most importantly they are likely to be boosted by the return of Cristiano Ronaldo. Coach Carlo Ancelotti said he will make a late decision on the 29-year-old, who has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury.

Bayern are defending champions and also winners of their domestic Bundesliga but may have to play second best tonight to the resurgent Real.
