Real Madrid v Dortmund (7.45pm, ITV)
STAR EVENT: Real Madrid v Dortmund
Bernabeu
TIME: 7.45pm
TV: ITV
It’s all about Real Madrid this evening. Dortmund don’t need to do a thing, sat with the comfort of their 4-1 first leg lead courtest of Robert Lewandowki.
Mourinho’s men must surely have to strike early to have ANY chance of qualification for the final – if they don’t then a situation of them desperately chasing the game ensues with every chance Dortmund can capitalise further.
The atmosphere is sure to be highly charged at the Bernabeu tonight and Howard Webb is the man in charge of keeping control in a game that could easily boil over – and it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see a red card at some stage and strongly fancy at least one penalty during the game.
As a punting proposition, we at Star Sports find it fascinating. The expectation is for plenty of goals, over 2.5 is short, and clearly the home side have to hit the back of the net again, again and again. That away goal for Real Madrid could yet prove vital.
But for all the pressure Real Madrid will be making up front, that will be countered by Dortmund’s defence and whilst it has looked shaky at times it’s worth remembering that Dortmund are so far unbeaten in the entire competition.
Madrid have scored an incredible average of three per game at home this season.
So how long the Dortmund defence can hold on for is debatable. Dortmund are a young side who could crack under the pressure – but we fancy them holding onto the draw until at least HT.
The three DRAW options look of interest on that basis. The thinking being anything could happen in the second half and we’ll have already locked a profit away.
