STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW: EFL Weekend Betting Tips – 30–31 October

Another set of EFL fixtures gets underway on Friday night, with plenty of interesting fixtures across all three divisions, writes LOUIE TRUMAN.

I’ve picked out three selections from the Championship, League One and League Two, including a 29/20 fancy at Riverside

CHAMPIONSHIP

Middlesbrough take on Charlton at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with both sides experiencing very different starts to the Championship season.

Boro have been one of the league’s standout teams so far, and Kim Hellberg’s side come into this fixture following an impressive 5-1 away win at Bolton. Middlesbrough have also scored 10 goals across their last three league matches, with Will Lankshear continuing to make an impact following his summer arrival. Lankshear has scored 11 goals this season, which makes him the league’s top goal scorer.

Charlton haven’t enjoyed the same success. Nathan Jones’ side are without a Championship win since August and have struggled to pick up points in recent weeks. The Addicks will need to improve their performances if they are to get anything from Saturday’s match.

Middlesbrough have been excellent in front of goal recently, and I expect them to cause Charlton plenty of problems. However, Boro have struggled at the back, conceding 17 goals already this season and securing just two clean sheets from 12 matches.

Middlesbrough to win and both teams to score is currently priced at 29/20 with starsports.bet.

LEAGUE ONE

Bradford City take on Huddersfield Town in League One on Saturday afternoon, with both sides currently sitting inside the top four.

Bradford have picked up 22 points from their opening 12 league matches. Michael Duff’s side have been excellent defensively this season, conceding just five goals. However, the Bantams have struggled going forward recently, with their last two matches against Oxford United and Burton Albion both finishing 0-0.

Huddersfield currently sit top of the table with 25 points from 12 matches. The visitors have won their previous three league outings, including a 4-1 win against Peterborough United.

Bradford’s recent results suggest this could be a low-scoring match. Nine of their last 10 league fixtures have finished with under 2.5 goals, including each of their previous eight.

In my opinion, under 2.5 goals looks a good selection. Bradford have been difficult to score against, and I think they will make things difficult for Huddersfield on Saturday.

The Bantams have also struggled to create chances in recent matches, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see another low-scoring game. Under 2.5 goals is my best bet, and it’s currently priced at 5/6 with Star Sports.

LEAGUE TWO

Crawley Town will be hoping for an improvement in results when they travel to Boundary Park to face Oldham Athletic;

The visitors have had a disappointing start to the season, with just six points from a possible 33. Their poor results have led to changes at the club, with Kevin Blackwell recently appointed as interim manager.

Blackwell faces a difficult task taking over a side that has struggled throughout the campaign. Although the managerial change could have a positive impact, I think it could take some time before Crawley start picking up results consistently.

Oldham will see this as a good opportunity to secure three points. The visitors haven’t shown much to suggest they can turn things around quickly, and I expect the hosts to make the most of their home advantage.

In my opinion, Oldham to win looks a good selection for Saturday’s match; Star Sports are currently offering that selection at 13/20.
