STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Fri: Brighton v Southampton

Brighton have made their best ever start to a Premier League season and they’re deserving of favouritism against Southampton, writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.

Last Saturday’s 2-1 win at Bournemouth made it six wins, four draws and two defeats, the same record that Chelsea and Arsenal have, and such a lofty position is fully earned – they’ve drawn with the Gunners at the Emirates whilst beating Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham this season. The Seagulls are also rock solid at home – they’re one of only three teams along with Brentford and Liverpool who are yet to lose on home soil in the Premier League this season –

New coach Fabian Hurzeler has quickly settled into his role since his appointment during the summer, with Danny Welbeck, Joao Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma all excelling upfront.

Southampton’s return to the Premier League has quickly become a nightmare, and a cruel ending to last week’s clash with table-toppers Liverpool was a miserable affair for the Saints.

Saints had led 2-1 going into the final stretches of the game before a horror error from goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and a handball inside the penalty box from substitute Yukinari Sugawara handed Mo Salah two second-half goals, meaning Saints sit bottom of the table.

Russell Martin’s side have lost 10 of 12 league games, scoring just nine and conceding 27, and with a long injury list including Aaron Ramsdale, Gavin Bazunu, Jan Bednarek, Ross Stewart, William Smallbone and Adam Lallana, tonight’s task is a daunting one for them.

Brighton’s general form and their home record make a price of ? on a home win pretty unopposable with starsports.bet and goals could be the best way to get value out of this game. Southampton have conceded two or more goals in seven of their last 10 games whilst Brighton’s games at the Amex are averaging 3.17 goals each.
