STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Fri: Man Utd v Leicester

Ruud Van Nistelrooy returns to his old stomping ground this weekend as his Leicester City side travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the FA Cup, writes JOE CITRONE.

Van Nistelrooy, who made over 150 appearances for United during his playing career, and had a brief stint as caretaker boss earlier this season, is already coming under some pressure as Foxes manager and could do with a morale-boosting win on Friday night.

As things stand, Leicester are staring down the barrel of immediate relegation back down to the Championship; currently occupying 18th-place in the Premier League.

They did manage to overcome Spurs recently, but completely failed to build on that as they were hammered 4-0 by a rejuvenated Everton side at the weekend to keep them rooted in the bottom-three.

Of course, nothing can change on that front this weekend with the Foxes on FA Cup duty, but a win on Friday could go a long way in restoring some confidence and belief around the club.

One step forward, two steps back. That seems to be the common theme of the last few months at Manchester United.

After three successive victories in all competitions, you would have been forgiven for thinking that Manchester United were back on the right track, but a home defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend put them back to square one.

Until a major rebuild of the playing squad takes place, it is difficult to see things drastically improving for Manchester United and Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils’ ascent back to the top, if it ever is going to happen, is a process that is going to take time.

However, I think they should have enough to get past Leicester here, especially with the Foxes’ priorities firmly on achieving Premier League survival. At 29/20 with starsports.bet, I like the look of a home win and under 3.5 goals.

Also, seeing as he has been the one shining light of the last few months at Old Trafford, I will also back Amad Diallo to score anytime at 5/4 with starsports.bet.
