STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Fri: Watford v Leeds

Club football returns on Friday night as Watford, fresh off the back of sacking yet another manager, face Leeds United who will be looking to boost their hopes of finishing in the Championship top-two, writes JOE CITRONE.

Valerien Ismael, although given a bit longer than Watford managers have typically gotten in recent years, was relieved of his duties three weeks ago and replaced by former Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley until the end of the season.

In Cleverley’s first match in charge of the Hornets, he guided them to a valuable and much-needed 1-0 win over struggling Birmingham City thanks to a goal on the stroke of half-time from Nigeria international Emmanuel Dennis.

The Hornets will now be looking to kick on from that result, but face a tough test on Friday night against a Leeds United side in blistering form.

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

A remarkable turn of form since the start of the year, which saw them win their first nine matches of 2024, has seen Daniel Farke’s side put themselves firmly in the race for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

As things stand, Leeds find themselves at the top of the table; leapfrogging Leicester City after their 2-0 win over Millwall in their most recent outing.

Leicester still have a game in hand on Leeds, but considering the dip in form that the Foxes have experienced coupled with the terrific form that Leeds themselves are in, Farke’s men probably won’t be too concerned by that.

A lot of Leeds’ success over recent weeks has been built on their strong defence and that’s why I can see another clean sheet for the Championship table-toppers here. I am backing a Leeds win to nil at 17/10 with starsports.bet.
