STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Fri: West Ham v QPR

The Championship returns on Friday night as West Ham United take on Queens Park Rangers, with the Hammers looking to reclaim top spot.

JOE CITRONE previews the clash and shares his West Ham vs QPR prediction.

THE PREVIEW

After a shaky start to the season, West Ham are beginning to find their feet and build some real momentum.

They showed plenty of character to fight back in a fiercely contested derby against Millwall last time out, demonstrating the resilience and quality within the squad.

With that quality starting to shine through, they’ll be keen to turn promising performances into results and get back to winning ways after a couple of weeks without a game.

The break will hopefully have provided a chance to regroup, recharge and come back ready to push on.

As for QPR, they’ve been flying somewhat under the radar in the early stages of the season, with Julien Stephan’s side sitting sixth in the Championship and just two points behind West Ham after eight games.

The positive from a QPR point of view is that they’re not reliant on one individual to make things happen. They’re developing into a cohesive unit with threats across the pitch, capable of hurting teams in a variety of ways.

That collective strength was evident in their last outing against Preston, where they showed real character and resilience to battle back to a 2-2 draw despite being reduced to 10 men early in the game.

WHERE’S THE VALUE IN WEST HAM V QPR?

With West Ham’s threat coming at the top end of the pitch, having scored more goals than any other side in the Championship this season, the obvious prediction is goals.

I don’t expect QPR to simply sit back and try to frustrate West Ham either, which should make for an open, attacking and entertaining encounter. Both sides have the quality to cause problems, so I’m anticipating plenty of goalmouth action.

At 2/1 with starsports.bet, West Ham to win and over 3.5 goals appeals as a strong value bet.
