STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Mon: Belarus v Scotland
Scotland made a hugely encouraging start to their World Cup qualifying campaign when they took a point away from a tough assignment to Denmark, and the Tartan Army could be in even higher spirits after their game against Belarus tonight, writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.
A point from a daunting trip to Denmark was a welcome start to their campaign, and Steve Clark will be encouraged by the fact they managed 11 attempts on goal despite the Danes having 73% of possession. The Scots were solid at the back with John Souttar shrugging off a poor start for Rangers to shine in defence whilst Andy Robertson blew away some early-season cobwebs at left-back, and Scott McTominay and John McGinn showed grit and class in midfield.
Scotland lacked a cutting edge – neither of Lyndon Dykes or Che Adams influenced the game massively – but they should enjoy more opportunities tonight. The Danes, notoriously hard to beat at home, dominated the ball and with Clarke’s 4-4-2 managing that threat effectively, Scotland didn’t get many chances to stretch their legs.

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET FOOTBALL MARKETS ⭐
On recent evidence, tonight they should find things less taxing. Belarus have lost all but one of their last 13 World Cup qualifiers, including a recent 5-1 hammering in Greece last week to start this campaign.
Their Nations League form is no better – Belarus won just one of their six matches (a 1-0 victory in Luxembourg), and they managed just three goals in those games. The hosts haven’t managed a competitive victory on home soil since a 1-0 success against Andorra in November 2023, making quotes of 1/2 on a Scottish victory with starsports.bet look generous.
Several Build-a-bets are of interest here for those who think Scotland will win easily, but the best bet might be Scotland to win and over 1.5 goals. Belarus have conceded 3.4 goals a game since March 2021 in World Cup Qualifying and should be able to score twice against a side that faced 30 shots in their 5-1 defeat to Greece last week.
For individual player markets, Scott McTominay is of interest, with 5/1 and 2/1 to score first respectively and anytime with starsports.bet likely to be popular.
