CHAMPIONSHIP

STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Mon: Preston v Leicester City

Leicester City travel to Preston as the Foxes look to accomplish a tally of 100 points in the Championship which requires two wins from their next two games, writes LEWIS WILLIAMS.

Preston currently sit 10th in the Championship and nine points adrift of a playoff position which was somewhat achievable before a poor run of form that’s seen the Lilywhites lose their last three matches and record just one win from their last six.

For good or for worse, Ryan Lowe has the same squad at his disposal that he took to Queens Park Rangers in their 1-0 defeat.

A shocking one on one miss from Liam Millar early in the match was a sign of how things would go for Preston as they soon conceded a messy goal at the far post from QPR’s Lyndon Dykes who capitalised on goalkeeper Woodman’s inability to get the ball out of sight after a cross in.

Preston have scored by far the least amount of goals of any club in the top 10 of the Championship and are certainly up against it versus a Leicester side on top of the world after securing promotion most recently during a 5-0 demolition job over Southampton at the King Power Stadium.

⭐ PRESTON V LEICESTER CITY STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐

The Foxes were barely odds on to win that fixture but won like a 1/50 shot with five goals in open play as 20 year-old Assahaku Fatawu set his sight on the Premier League with an impressive hat trick.

At one stage, Leicester were poised to break all sorts of records in the Championship with a blistering start to their campaign after being relegated, and although they slowed down slightly in the last eight weeks, they are certainly back as the top dogs when it matters the most.

100 points is still achievable though, and it requires two wins from their remaining two fixtures. That would be a feat that Burnley accomplished last year but before that, Leicester themselves were the only other ones to do it in the last decade.

VERDICT
A depleted Leicester side has previously been sufficient to win, namely in cup fixtures against Millwall and Birmingham, so there’s no reason to doubt the motivation of Leicester in this fixture. Against a Preston side stuck treading water in the middle of the pack in the Championship, I see the Foxes winning convincingly and keeping their centurion hopes alive heading back to the King Power for match 46. I’m backing Leicester -1 at ? with starsports.bet
