PREMIER LEAGUE PREVIEW

STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sat: Brentford v Manchester United

The international break is finally over and the Premier League campaign resumes for a clear run now for the remainder of the season, writes LEWIS WILLIAMS.

Brentford’s decline has been palpable in recent months as they now sit 15th in the Premier League and although they’re 14/1 to go down, the fact they’re not a triple-figure price is indicative of the current state of their game.

The long-awaited return of Ivan Toney hasn’t stopped the bleeding from the Bees and it’s instead been the Conga international Yoanne Wissa who’s been carrying the goals home lately with three in his last five outings.

Sergio Reguilon lasted seven minutes before being shown a red at Turf Moor and he joins a concerning list of absentees including Ben Mee and the doubtful Christian Norgaard, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them let a goal in early doors.

⭐ BRENTFORD V MANCHESTER UNITED STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐

Manchester United travel to Brentford after their thriller of a cup tie against Liverpool which put to bed the lingering shadow of the 7-0 result at Anfield and also killed Klopp’s dreams of a farewell quadruple.

Residents of the Stretford End still had some club interest in the international break, with 18 year-old engine room sensation Kobbie Mainoo making headlines and dominating discourse around Southgate’s upcoming Euro campaign in Germany. He is now as short as 3/10 with Star Sports to be on the flight to Berlin from around 7/2 just a few weeks back.

It was the subs that won the match that day with Antony and Diallo both getting on the scoresheet late on, with the former looking surprisingly comfortable on the ball against a well-oiled Liverpool.

Lisandro Martinez has travelled with the squad so an appearance from the Argentinian will further bolster the away side’s chances and although there’s doubts around Maguire, valid replacements in Varane, Lindelof and Dalot worked surprisingly well versus Liverpool. Against a Brentford that put just one in against Burnley most recently, there’s no worry from my end about United’s defensive capabilities.

VERDICT
Despite an international layoff, the form of these two sides is in total contrast to each other this season and a price of ? with starsports.bet to claim three points seems generous when you consider Manchester United went off at 3/4 for this fixture last season, with more recent prices of 4/7 and 3/5.
