STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sat: Brighton v West Ham

Two sides who have enjoyed positive starts to the season in Brighton and West Ham go head-to-head at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.

At the time of writing, Brighton sit top of the Premier League table with two wins from two with Roberto De Zerbi’s men picking up from where they left off in a enormously successful 2021/22 campaign.

On the opening day, they taught newly-promoted side Luton Town a harsh lesson with a 4-1 hammering and then backed it up with a victory by the same scoreline against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

Despite some struggles in the transfer market, which has seen two key players in Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo depart and prove difficult to replace, the Seagulls still seem on the right track.

They did suffer a blow earlier this week, though, with the news that Julio Encisco is set for an extended spell on the sidelines through injury. It seems likely then that Joao Pedro, who was surprisingly dropped for the Wolves game after a sparkling debut against Luton, will be recalled to the starting XI.

West Ham have also enjoyed a bright start to the campaign, opening their season with a solid point against Bournemouth and following it up with an impressive win over rivals Chelsea at the London Stadium.

Much like Brighton, the Hammers haven’t had it all their own way in this transfer window, but it does seem to be coming together now with James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez over the line and reports that exciting talent Mohamed Kudus could be about to follow them.

David Moyes will be keen to back up that victory over Chelsea this weekend to keep the momentum going, but face a tough test in Brighton who are also coming into this fixture in good spirits.

Flying full-back Pervis Estupinan has enjoyed an excellent start to the season for Brighton and I expect him to continue that on Saturday. At 5/2 with, I like the look of him grabbing an assist in this match.
