STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sat: Leeds v Newcastle
It has been quite the week for Newcastle, and they could be in for an eventful time when they face Leeds this evening, writes WILLIAM KEDJANYI.
The Magpies, who are still involved in a transfer saga with wantaway striker Alexander Isak, have announced a club record signing in the shape of Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade to replace Isak found out that their Champions League campaign would feature fixtures against Barcelona and Paris St-Germain, and were involved in an incredibly fiery battle with Liverpool that ended in heartbreak thanks to a remarkably late winner for 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha, who made history as the youngest scorer in the club’s history.
Defeat was undeserved for Newcastle, who had Liverpool pinned back in the first half before Ryan Gravenberch’s sucker punch, and Anthony Gordon’s late red card combined with Hugo Ekitike’s second goal right after half time looked to have ended the game as a contest, but Newcastle kept the pressure up to bring things back to 2-2 before the late heartbreak.
Having been unlucky not to beat an admittedly poor Aston Villa on the opening day, Newcastle are arguably unlucky not to have two wins from two and are understandable favourites with starsports.bet, although the effects of such a brutal outing on Monday have left a mark – Anthony Gordon is banned for three games after a reckless late challenge on Virgil Van Dijk and, whilst key midfield figures Tonali and Joelinton are doubts.

⭐️ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐️
We’ve seen two sides to Leeds in their opening games. A 1-0 defeat of Everton when they were utterly dominant looks better after the Toffees beat Brighton last Sunday, but they were blown away when beaten 5-0 at Arsenal at the weekend, a defeat which is forgivable, although it did show the gaps between them and the top sides, which is a label one can apply to Newcastle at least.
Farke’s men had only three efforts and hit the target once last week, but with Newcastle suffering the injuries they did in midweek, it would be no surprise if they didn’t have the same control of proceedings today.
Given Newcastle’s injuries and home advantage for Leeds, the draw may be a runner at 5/2 with starsports.bet, the visitors are worthy favourites, but the hosts could be facing Newcastle at just the right time.
