STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sun: Arsenal v Liverpool

In the headline match of the Premier League weekend, Liverpool travel to Arsenal in a top-of-the-table clash at the Emirates Stadium, writes JOE CITRONE.

Arsenal are right in the thick of another title race this season, but have some catching up to do after a controversial William Saliba red card saw them fall to an unexpected defeat at Bournemouth in their most recent Premier League outing.

That leaves them four points behind current table-toppers Liverpool. Mikel Arteta will know it is crucial that they don’t lose on Sunday and become cut even further adrift, and that’s why he will be praying that Bukayo Saka is passed fit to play.

If not, there will be even more reliance on Kai Havertz who, if he finds the back of the net on Sunday, will become the first Gunners player since Thierry Henry to score in six successive Premier League home matches.

As for the defensive issues, William Saliba will be suspended after that sending off at the Vitality Stadium and Riccardo Calafiori is also likely to miss out with an injury so Arteta will have to do some shuffling.

⭐️ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐️

Liverpool have a fair few injury problems of their own with first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker still missing which means that Caoimhin Kelleher will likely line up between the sticks for the Reds.

Arne Slot’s side do have players available who are in excellent form, though, with both Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz starting the season very strongly with five goals each already in the Premier League. They will be a duo that Arsenal will need to pay close attention to on Sunday.

Although both of these sides possess excellent attacking quality, I am not expecting a thrilling affair on Sunday afternoon. I am expecting something more akin to a chess match between two intelligent competitors not wanting to give too much away.

That makes a bet of a draw and under 2.5 goals – which is available at 16/5 with starsports.bet – an appealing bet for this pivotal Premier League clash.
