STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sun: Arsenal v Tottenham

The first North London Derby of the Premier League season is here with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur aiming to continue their strong, impressive starts to the campaign at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After a positive campaign last term, which saw Arsenal climb to second in the table and return to the Champions League, Mikel Arteta’s side will now want to continue to build and have made a decent start at that; winning four and drawing one of their first five games.

They also picked up a positive result upon their return to the Champions League on Wednesday night with goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard securing a 4-0 victory for the Gunners.

The form book goes out the window somewhat when it comes to derby day, though, and – with Spurs starting the season positively under their new manager – this will be a challenge for Arteta’s men.

A big talking point heading into this game is whether Aaron Ramsdale or David Raya will start in the goal as the fascinating tussle for the number one jersey rumbles on. Ramsdale has experience in this fixture, but Raya has impressed in his first couple of appearances for Arsenal.

Ange Postecoglou hasn’t been in the Tottenham hot seat too long, but it already feels like a totally different atmosphere at Spurs since he walked through the door.

His infectious energy and positivity have been a breath of fresh air and exactly what Spurs needed following the tumultuous end to the reign of previous incumbent Antonio Conte.

In their most recent outing, there was late drama as Spurs turned a 1-0 defeat into a 2-1 victory in the stoppage time against Sheffield United thanks to goals from a rejuvenated Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.

This will be a tight and cagey affair as derbies often are and I can see both of these sides cancelling each other out. Therefore, a draw looks interesting at 16/5 with And, seeing as this is a derby with a feisty history, so does over 62.5 booking points at 6/5.
