STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sun: Man Utd v Liverpool

Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford this Sunday afternoon, writes JOE CITRONE.

United have improved considerably under caretaker boss Michael Carrick, who took charge following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal. Nine wins in 13 games have moved the Red Devils within touching distance of a Champions League return, and a win today would all but seal it.

Sunday’s fixture represents a fabulous opportunity for United to clinch a place in next season’s Champions League, and also extend their lead in the table over the fourth-placed Merseysiders.

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Liverpool come into this one off three consecutive league wins, but have won only one of their last 12 league games against sides starting the day in the top three.

Mo Salah will not feature on Sunday, which is a blow with Old Trafford being a very happy hunting ground for him over the years, and Alisson also remains a doubt, while Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, Wataru Endo and Hugo Ekitike are also missing.

United have won six of their last seven home games and have turned Old Trafford into a difficult place to visit once more. Carrick’s side are in the box seat here, and the crowd will sense an opportunity to celebrate Champions League football on home soil.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are not without threat – Alexander Isak will be hoping to mark his 100th Premier League appearance by scoring in successive league games – but with key absentees and poor away form against top-half sides, the visitors look vulnerable. I am backing Manchester United to get the win here at 11/8 with starsports.bet.
