STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Sun: West Ham v Arsenal

Arsenal will be looking to take a big step closer to the Premier League title this weekend, but David Moyes’ West Ham will have other ideas as they lock horns with the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Given the heights that they reached last season, both in the Premier League and in Europe, this has been a really disappointing season for West Ham. With nine games left of the season, the Hammers are still yet to secure their top-flight status; sitting just three points above the bottom-three as things stand (11/1 for relegation with starsports.bet).

There was plenty of investment in the summer as well with sizeable fees spent on the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet but, for whatever reason, very few of their summer recruits have been able to make the desired impact this season.

Moyes’ men face a crucial run-in and could really do with putting a good run together to ease relegation fears heading into the last few matches, but they face a serious challenge on Sunday against title-chasing Arsenal.

The Hammers will likely be boosted by a number of returning faces, though, as Paqueta, Michail Antonio, Tomas Soucek and Kurt Zouma – who all missed their 1-0 win over Fulham last week – look set to return.

Mikel Arteta’s side were so close to ending their poor recent history of results at Anfield last weekend, but their afternoon ended in frustration.

The Gunners took an early 2-0 lead in the first-half, but thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino – who have both been a thorn in Arsenal’s side over the years – Liverpool managed to wrestle it back to 2-2.

That reduced Arsenal’s lead at the top to six points with that massive game at Manchester City coming up, but it is still all in their hands if they are able to stay focussed and consistent as they have for most of their excellent Premier League campaign.

They are hopeful of welcoming back defender William Saliba for this match who has been a big miss through injury over recent weeks, but are not likely to risk starting him if there is any doubt over his fitness.

I am expecting Arsenal to bounce back from that disappointing collapse at Anfield last week by winning comfortably against West Ham on Sunday. Much of the Hammers’ issues have come in the attacking areas so an Arsenal win to nil at 13/8 with starsports.bet looks appealing.

I am also backing Bukayo Saka, who has had a marvellous season, to grab another assist with 10 to his name in the Premier League so far this term.
