STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Tue: West Ham United v Tottenham
The highlight of Tuesday’s five match card comes from London, where West Ham look to bounce back after a capitulation at Newcastle most recently, writes LEWIS WILLIAMS.
It hasn’t been plain sailing for West Ham so far who kicked off 2024 with an eight match win drought and although they found their feet eventually, one Premier League win from four in March isnât the best look for Moyesâ Hammers.
They still sit 7th in the Premier League though which will likely be enough to provide them with a spot into Europe and remaining on that perch would be a significant improvement on their disastrous 14th place finish last season.

Most recently on Saturday, the Hammers took part in a thriller at St. Jamesâ Park which included a whopping 7 goals and an expected tally of 5.36. Antonio, Kudus, and Bowen all had their moments of brilliance to go 3-1 up as the Howe backline looked lost at sea. But somehow, Moyesâ men found a way to lose from that position.
Kalvin Phillips was subbed on and began the nosedive by conceding a penalty, before Harvey Barnes kicked on after a two-match absence with two sensational goals to propel Newcastle into the lead.
It was Phillips himself who dominated the headlines that day with many criticising his in-game passion, which wasnât helped by himself who was seen putting his fingers up to travelling West Ham fans boarding the team bus outside the stadium. Although Moyesâ responded by claiming he still wants to play Phillips, it seems a return to Leeds at one point or another seems on the cards and could be the saving grace of his career.
The midfield duo of Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta is the shining light of this team for me currently and Kalvin Phillips will have to pull off a miracle to fill one of the other gaps to play alongside them.
The capitulation from the Hammers in Tyneside shouldnât take away from the goals that were scored by the attacking trio and the return of Michail Antonio to the starting squad should provide West Ham fans with plenty of encouragement, as should Bowen scoring in two of his last three outings after a dry spell.

Spurs arrive at the Olympic Stadium after a slight fright at home against Luton who so often fail to deceive.
There were a couple of narrow misses for Spurs including a goalline technology 1 millimetre verdict but Son showed a touch of class to win the home side the match that day.
For all the 2.55 goals were encouraging for Spurs, their performance at Craven Cottage sticks in my mind and although they had more of the ball and a crazy 2.31 Expected Goals two weeks ago, they failed to score in their 3-0 whitewash against Silvaâs men.
VERDICT
With all things considered, Spurs at
is no price away from home and West Ham at
with starsports.bet is respectable value considering itâs only half a point shorter than their price against Newcastle.
