STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Tues: Scotland v Spain

After opening their EURO 2024 qualifying campaigns in winning fashion, Scotland and Spain will now do battle at Hampden Park on Tuesday night as they both look to maintain their 100% record in Group A.

Scotland comfortably swept Cyprus aside on Saturday, defeating Temur Ketsbaia’s side by three goals to nil, thanks to a first-half strike from John McGinn and a brace from Scott McTominay.

Spain will be the toughest assignment of the qualifying campaign for Steve Clarke’s men, but their encounters with Norway will arguably be the most important with this looking like a two-way tussle for second-place.

This clash with Luis de la Fuente’s side on Tuesday is something of a ‘free hit’ with not many people expecting Scotland to be able to secure a result and a home win sitting at 17/4 with starsports.bet.

It looks like they will also be without their main striker, Che Adams, who hobbled off in their 3-0 victory over Cyprus. Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland has taken the Southampton forward’s place in the squad ahead of their second match of the international break.

Spain have embarked on a new era since they crashed out of the 2022 World Cup with Luis Enrique departing and de la Fuente stepping up from the under-21 side to take on the top job.

De la Fuente enjoyed a winning start to his time as Spain boss with Dani Olmo and Joselu – on his senior international debut – firing La Roja to an emphatic and impressive 3-0 triumph over Norway on Saturday.
If Spain are to avoid defeat against Scotland on Tuesday night, it will be 20 games unbeaten in Euro qualifying, which dates all the way back to 2014. As we know, anything can happen in football, but it’s hard to see Scotland being the side to bring that impressive run to an end.

With Scotland missing their focal point at the top of the pitch, and Spain looking strong in the defensive department, I think it might be tough for Scotland to find a way through on Tuesday. A Spain win to nil looks appealing at 13/8 with starsports.bet.
